* It is not uncommon, when holidays falls on a Tuesday or Thursday, for the Government to declare the preceding Monday or following Friday as a non-working day for Government employees, which the employees must make up by working on specified Saturday (usually the next Saturday following the holiday). Such decisions are usually taken only 1-2 weeks before the given holiday. Many businesses do not follow the Government’s lead, but Government offices will be closed.
